Our Value Statements

We align our programs and service with the overarching mission of the University and needs of our communities and strive to create shared ownership of our Library. In our pursuit for excellence, we aspire to become a truly inclusive and equitable arm of the University. Our value statements offer the fundamental beliefs that guide interactions among the staff of the library and with its users and our partners.

Student-Centered

We value our responsibility to provide a student-centered learning environment. Creating a student-centered learning environment begins with the Library's staff acknowledging all students learn differently. This insight is based on each of our own personal journeys as learners. This identification being the Library staffs' greatest asset.

Collaboration

We value active purposeful collaboration. Collaborative learning in essence is people working jointly to solve a challenge, derive meaning from a body of material or cooperate with each other to create a product. A pivotal question or problem provides the drive to organize and agree on activities, and collectively arrive to a solution.

Service

We value our dedicated role to provide service. We strive to customize instructional services to meet the learning goals of each student, staff, faculty research activities. We strive to provide services that connect students, staff, and faculty to equal access to the most appropriate research materials and promote the development of valuable research skills.

We value a commitment to the efficient and responsible stewardship of resources; including collections, equipment, and financial and human resources. We hold ourselves accountable and responsible to our community and partners in the use of our resources responsibly.

We value a sustained culture of exploration, innovation and forward thinking by creating environments that support learning and growth. Curiosity permits us to challenge ourselves to dig deeper to discover new passions in ourselves and new delights in others.
